Getting Started
During your first visit, we’ll:

- Discuss the reasons for your visit
- Talk about your goals for your smile
- Review your medical and dental history
- Take digital X-rays, if needed
- Discuss the treatments we provide
- Answer your questions
- Go over payment methods and insurance
Your Dental Cleaning & Exam
You may receive a dental cleaning at your first appointment or at a subsequent appointment scheduled at your convenience. Removing hardened food particles, tartar, and plaque from teeth protects again gum disease and makes smiles shine.
Following your cleaning, the dentist will perform a comprehensive exam, including:
- A tooth-by-tooth check for decay
- A evaluation of existing dental work for structural integrity
- An oral cancer screening
- An occlusal evaluation to determine how well your top and bottom teeth fit together
- An assessment of your gums for periodontal disease
Six-month checkups and cleanings are a vital part of a good oral healthcare regimen. Proper homecare is crucial, as well. Brush your teeth at least three times a day, and floss at least once daily to minimize plaque and tartar build-up that causes tooth decay and dental disease. Our team happily provides instruction and tips for effective brushing and flossing. Just ask!
